Symbolic Jewelry - Their Significance

Your first piece of symbolic jewelry could have been given to you at your christening to mark your birth.

Symbolic jewelry represents or signifies a special occasion, accomplishment, celebration to honour someone, achievement, awareness of a cause or stand.

Religious medallions, Diploma's Numbers, Sayings, and Keys are examples of symbolic pieces of jewelry. Many are engraved with special and personal inscriptions, including the date to commemorate the occasion. They speak volumes when given--"I am proud of you", "Welcome to the World, Oh Precious One, "Congratulations on Your Achievements/Graduation", "You've Reached A Milestone".

One of my dearest and most cherished pieces is my first tooth that is encased in a gold setting and is worn as a charm on my bracelet.

For the person giving it to you, it symbolizes for them what you mean to them, how proud they are of you, they stand by you and support you, and they honour you.

Jewelry can have an expression or meaning to the wearer that is unique to the individual.

Key jewelry has become very popular over the last two years and is here to stay, as any classic and timeless piece of jewelry. There are so many beautiful styles available; they are made from a variety of metals, some set with a single gemstone, while others are so elaborate and set with diamonds, and many semi-precious stones.

If you are considering acquiring one for yourself, or as a gift for someone, besides looking at the aesthetic beauty of them, discover the meaning behind this beautiful symbolic piece of jewelry.

A small word, with only 3 letters, but it certainly has many definitions and meanings.

This little word is not one to be disrespected since it signifies; Greatness, Supremacy, Importance, Being Number One.

If you play an instrument or sing, you can be off or on KEY.

Have you ever been to KEY Largo or KEY West?

When was the last time you tried a delicious piece of KEY LIME PIE?

Who was the KEY note speaker at your last conference?

Do you know anyone who plays a KEYboard instrument?

As you can see, this mini word has more of a purpose than being a device made of metal that opens or closes doors.

The KEY can symbolize the KEY to one's heart, the KEY of life, hard work is the KEY of success and so on. As well, a KEY can represent new beginnings as you open the door to new opportunities.

Two of my favorite expressions include :
"A soul-mate is someone who has locks that fit our keys and keys to fit our locks" ~ Richard Bach

"Three keys to more abundant living: caring about others, daring for others, sharing with others" ~ William Arthur Ward

You may wish to show your gratitude to your real estate agent by giving her a key pendant as a thank you for finding you your dream home, your significant other to symbolize unlocking the key to your heart, a friend who has reached a milestone.

When a person wears a symbolic piece, it is a part of who they are--it can be a collage of their life. They are conversation pieces, especially if the symbol is unique. A story begins to unfold as you relive experiences and share your stories with people.

Good memories, shared memories--a reflection of your past, present, future--eternal in your heart.
